Hazardous Material
Any product that is corrosive, reactive, ignitable or toxic is considered hazardous. Residents of Elizabeth City may dispose of hazardous materials at the Pasquotank County Landfill Site, located at 983 Simpson Ditch Road. Historic Districts & Preservation
Many areas in Elizabeth City contain historic or architecturally significant houses, businesses and entire neighborhoods worthy of preservation. The Historic District program enhances property values and helps protect the special character of historic neighborhoods. For more information call the Planning Department at 252-337-6672.

Horseshoes
Horseshoe pits are located beside the Knobbs Creek Recreation Center and are open to the public free of charge. Several tournaments are held throughout the year.
Human Relations
Elizabeth City and Pasquotank County jointly appoint members to serve on the Elizabeth City-Pasquotank County Community Relations Commission. Commission members serve to promote the equal treatment of all individuals; to discourage discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, family status and veteran status; to protect each person’s lawful interest and their personal dignity so as to make available their full productive and creative capacities and to promote harmony and equal opportunity among all people living in Pasquotank County.
