Fair Housing Plan
The City of Elizabeth City’s Fair Housing Plan is administered by the Planning and Community Development Department. For more information, call 252-337-6672.

Finance Department
The Finance Department administers the City’s financial policies and procedures, maintains the City’s sound financial condition and consults with City officials and management in the on-going administration of City financial activities. Financial management functions include financial accounting, investments, managerial accounting, multi-year program accounting, payroll, revenue collections and financial reporting to the City Council, department heads and state and federal agencies.

Fire Department
The Elizabeth City Fire Department trains for and responds to emergency situations involving fire, hazardous material accidents and emergency rescue and disasters of all kinds to protect the lives and property of Elizabeth City residents. The Fire Department also takes pro-active steps such as inspections, investigations and public education to minimize the chance of damage to life and property that may be caused by fire or hazardous materials. Fitness Classes
Group fitness classes are provided year-round for men and women 16 years old and above. Taught by certified instructors, classes are available during the morning and evening hours. Fee charged. For More Information call (252) 335-1424.

Flood Zoning
The City of Elizabeth City enforces provisions of the National Flood Insurance Program in the City limits and extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ). Property in these areas must meet Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) standards. The City has Flood Insurance Rate Maps on file for determining in which flood zone a piece of property is located. For more information, call the Building Inspections Department at 252-337-6868.
