The City of Elizabeth City Public Works Department is committed to enhancing the quality of life for residents by providing essential services that support the safety, sustainability, and daily operations of our community. Through dedicated service, innovation, and stewardship, the department works to maintain and improve the infrastructure that keeps Elizabeth City moving. The department consist of (10) divisions: Sanitation, Streets, Powell Bill, Stormwater Management, Fleet Maintenance, Water and Sewer Maintenance, Water Treatment Plant, Wastewater Treatment Plant, Electric, and Load Management. Along with our key divisions we have our Administrative team that helps support our daily operations, work order request, department budget, and capital project management.
With a focus on operational excellence, public service, and community engagement, the Public Works Department is dedicated to maintaining safe streets, dependable utilities, clean neighborhoods, and resilient infrastructure that promotes economic growth and community well-being.
