Boards, Committees and Commissions

There exists within our community various boards, committees and commissions organized for the purpose of assisting with the functions of government. The authority to make appointments to these entities is granted by City Code, City Resolution, various By-laws and the North Carolina General Statutes, dependent upon the entity involved.
Some entities are organized for the sole purpose of providing recommendations to local governmental bodies, while others are tasked with quasi-judicial authority. During the City Council meeting held on April 8, 2013, the Council approved a motion to make available on this website, the minutes of meetings conducted by the various boards, committees and commissions of the City Council. The agendas for the meetings held beginning January 1, 2013 and the minutes from those meetings (after approval) are available under the appropriate Board, Committee and Commission.
